HDFC Bank shares rose sharply on Tuesday, gaining ₹20 to trade at ₹720.00 on the NSE by 11.04 am, a 2.86 per cent jump from Monday’s close of ₹700.00, making it one of the top gainers on the Nifty 50 for the session. The stock opened at ₹708.00, touched an intraday high of ₹721.30, and held above ₹706.05 on the downside.

Traded volume reached 146.96 lakh shares worth ₹1,051.91 crore by mid-session, sharply higher than Monday’s ₹718.40 crore. Deliverable quantity stood at 60.49 per cent. Despite the price gain, sellers continued to dominate the order book at 68.82 per cent against buyers at 31.21 per cent, indicating persistent supply even as bulls drove the price higher.

Total market capitalisation recovered to ₹11,11,336.95 crore. The P/E ratio firmed to 13.48, with the adjusted figure at 13.29, a modest re-rating from Monday’s 13.34.

The broader banking index provided sectoral support. Bank Nifty opened with a gap-up near 55,436, cleared its recurring resistance around 55,200, and traded at 55,002 by session mid-point. The RSI improved to around 52, crossing the neutral mark. Immediate resistance sits at 55,330–55,600, with support at 54,740–54,500.

The stock remains down 27.32 per cent year-to-date, against the Nifty 50’s 9.55 per cent decline, with the 52-week low of ₹669.20 recorded just last week on October 28.
